MACROECONOMIC CONDITIONS EXPLAINED
First it was Business Week. Then President Obama. Now it is Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke. Speaking before a group of bankers this past weekend in Jackson Hole [...]
Based on the feedback we have been receiving over the past few weeks regarding our weekly newsletter, we are changing the format of the BHBGroupTrader Market Spread Report. First, the capital markets comment will contain four sections, each pertaining to a different complex in the futures asset class: macroeconomic/equity, currency, interest rate, and commodity. Ft.com’s Alphaville blog posted this great “look under the hood” of the UNG Natural Gas ETF and the crisis this ETF is experiencing. ETFs are [...]
Is There A Bonanza Waiting At the North Pole?
For my Energy and Capital article this week, I summarize a new USGS report on the potential undiscovered oil and gas resources of the Arctic Circle.
One way to know that the end of the Age of Oil will soon be upon us is the current excitement and [...]
As I write this early Monday morning, GM, the seventy-seven year old blue-chip company – a symbol of great American innovation and industry of the roaring 20s – is in bankruptcy court filing chapter 11. Its shareholders and bondholders are being wiped out. Yet the market is ripping higher. Rather, to understand the recent rally one has to look no further than the US dollar [...]
